Company History
Best Entertainers was founded in 1981 to promote music and variety talent. Throughout the 80’s it created innovative talent for Houston. Because of this they were chosen to be the source for Continental Airlines yearly picnic, an all-day event attended by sixteen thousand employees and including over one hundred variety talents, carnival rides, stage shows, strolling musicians, bands, elephant rides, petting zoos, artists, and novelties.
In the 80’s Special Events magazine called on Best to provide all the entertainment for the National Special Events Convention. Bill Graham Presents chose Best to partner with fpr the Miller Lite multi city, “Biggest Parties in Texas Concert and festivals.” Louis Epstein took over management of Michael Davis, the Nation’s top Corporate Act from APA. We became board members of the National Association of Catering Executives. Best Entertainers became the source for Grand Openings, providing entertainment to open almost every Houston shopping mall, hotel, and resort, including the 3-day opening of the Woodlands Pavilion. We were also honored by the city of Houston with the Best of Houston Award for outstanding entertainment.
In the 90’s Best was featured in the World Wide Press for entertainments created for the Republican Convention. Best’s Rockin Lou and Ernie became Houston’s first nationally known DJ’s after creating a sensation in the Bar/Bat Mitzvah industry. In 1995 Best became the first entertainment agency featured in the pages of the Houston Chronicle’s Lifestyle magazine, and the only agency ever used as a cover story for a Christmas edition. In 1996 Louis left to pursue managing other national talents and Victoria Barclay, herself a former national talent with Disney credits, took over as owner. Kevin Friddell, Houston’s top lighting designer also joined the team to beef up Best’s production capabilities.
In the 2000’s Best has received a slew of awards including numerous local and statewide Best Entertainment and team awards through the International Society of Special Events (Now ILEA). Best Wedding DJ’s through The Knot, Best Party DJ’s through City Search Magazine, and an Award for Excellence from the Better Business Bureau (18 recognitions to date). Best increased its national exposure and expanded into the college market by branching into “make it, take it” amusements, where guests create custom give-aways, including our popular www.FlipbooksofTexas.com
